Israeli Researchers Look into Cannabis Terpenes to Slow Spread of Covid-19

Covid-19 is the greatest pandemic to devastate the world since the Spanish Influenza in 1918. A worldwide push for a vaccine has been under way since the beginning of the year, and some scientists are looking to slow the spread while this lengthy process is happening. A group of Israeli researchers are now looking into terepenes from certain cannabis strain to possibly slow the spread of Covid-19.

“Our lab has been approved to operate as a corona lab, and in doing so, we are promoting 2 studies based on existing cannabis studies: First, we will try to identify the plant’s own molecules that are capable of suppressing the immune response to the COVID-19 coronavirus, which causes inflammation and severe disease,” Dedi Meiri, Cannasoul Chairman and Asst. Professor at the Israel Institute of Technology, said in a statement. “To lower the immune system response without suppressing it, thereby providing better complementary treatment to the steroids, which completely suppress the immune system.”

Following up on a study from a group of Chinese Scientists in 2007 that concluded a certain set of terpenes reduced the severity of SARS, these scientists are optimistic that they will find a novel set of terpenes that could help slow the spread of Covid-19. To read the full article, Click here!
